DIRECT-FED MICROBIALS (probiotics)
& DIGESTIVE ENZYMES:
Natural Solutions for Today's World!
We've all heard the saying, "Death
begins in the colon." Many practitioners of alternative medicine
believe that a disruptive ecology of the gastrointestinal tract may
cause up to ninety percent of all known illness and disease.

NZYMES® Bac~Pak
Plus uses
a powerful blend of Micro-encapsulated live, viable
naturally occurring microorganisms and digestive enzymes. The Micro-encapsulation process
provides key protection against heating and stomach acid to insure
that the majority of the viable bacteria reach the GI tract.
This blend promotes proper digestion and improved assimilation of foods.
Bac~Pak Plus was created for nutritional supplemental use with animals
of all ages and designed to help optimize the health of a pet¹s
digestive tract and immune system.
Animals often get sick when their gastrointestinal tract becomes disrupted.
Beneficial (friendly) microorganisms can no longer flourish in needed
numbers and in the proper balance. What is the cause of this disruption
in the gastrointestinal tract? Well the most common cause would be
past and present use of antibiotics which can contribute heavily to
the problem.
WHAT ARE THE MOST COMMON CAUSES OF GASTRO-INTESTINAL DISRUPTION?
The most common cause is past and present use of antibiotics. This
is the single most contributing factor involved in the breakdown
of the flora in the GI tract. Perhaps you are not giving your dog
antibiotics, but unless you take constant precautions
with your dog's food and water, then he/she are most likely consuming
antibiotics on a regular basis. Every time your
pet drinks chlorinated water, eats antibiotic-laden foods, or take
prescription antibiotics to fight infection, significant portions
of the body's key beneficial bacteria often become depleted as well
as the destruction of the bad bacteria. An added source of damage
comes from stress and excessive sugar consumption which also interfere
with the balance of good bacteria in the gastrointestinal system.
We are now being faced with increasing numbers of bacteria that are
immune to antibiotics. In 1928, Alexander Fleming discovered the "miracle
antibiotic" penicillin. During the Second World War,
this antibiotic was made widely available to eliminate the most unmerciful
of wartime killers; infected wounds. Mass production of this antibiotic
began soon after its discovery and was eventually administered to
everyone with bacterial infections. Four years after the mass production
of penicillin started a frightening and unexpected phenomenon began
to occur. Some of the deadly bacteria the antibiotic was supposed
to destroy began developing resistance. This phenomenon has continued
and is now a really serious problem. In today's environment it is
literally becoming very dangerous for you or your animals to get
sick. That is why it is critical for you to know about direct live
fed microbial's and digestive enzymes - the natural solution of our
times.
Microorganisms consist of approximately five hundred species of bacteria
that inhabit the intestine. These bacteria are sometimes referred to
as 'friendly' or 'beneficial' bacteria.
HOW DO DIRECT-FED MICROBIALS (probiotics) WORK?
By attaching themselves to the intestinal wall, the friendly bacteria
keep pathogenic bacteria from gaining a foothold. In addition, they
produce lactic acid and hydrogen peroxide, (which kill most disease-causing
bacteria trying to enter the body). Some yogurts and other fermented
foods have these cultures, but these may not be strong enough for today's
environment. This is why microorganism supplementation is so important.
It only costs a few pennies a day to supplement your animal's diet
with direct-fed microbial's and digestive enzymes.
BENEFITS OF DIRECT FED MICROBIALS:
In sufficient numbers, these friendly bacteria keep disease-causing bacteria from overpopulating the intestine. Also, they improve digestion, manufacture B vitamins, and boost immune system activity. Because they boost immunity, they positively influence the overall health of the animal.
WHEN TO USE DIRECT FED MICROBIALS
- At Birth, the intestinal tract of newborns is basically sterile,
which provides the best opportunity for introducing the beneficial
bacteria found in direct-fed microbial's.
- At Weaning, a young animal's digestive system is not fully developed to efficiently change from "mother's milk."
- Handling (shipping, vaccinations, grooming, weather changes and extremes like surgery and other situations can put stress on the animal. This results in reduced appetite and feed intake, which leads to possible weight loss.
- Antibiotic Treatment often lowers the number or growth of Lactobacillus
and other beneficial microbes in the digestive tract. Direct-fed
microbial's assist in the replenishing of these beneficial bacteria,
resulting in a quicker return to a balanced intestinal micro flora.
- Since many stressful situations can not be anticipated, daily feeding
of a direct-fed microbial's is recommended as a preventative measure.
